What are jumping spiders?
Jumping spiders are small intelligent spiders that catch their pray by stalking and pouncing on the insects with incredible accuracy.
Here at Somerset Little Critters we specialise in Phiddipus Regius Apalachicola and Phiddipus Regius Bahamas. These fabulous little critters make wonderful pets due to their active, curious and inquisitive nature. They come in many attractive, bright colours and alongside their large eyes they really set themselves apart from peoples traditional images of a spider.
Jumping spiders typically live for around 2-3 years for females and 18 months for males.
Females mature slightly larger than males up to 22mm and males slightly smaller at 18mm.

- They can jump many times their own body length which, alongside their sight, makes them fabulous hunter, and great fun to watch!
-They create a silk safety line every time they jump.
Do jumping spiders make webs?
Yes they do make webs, but not in the way you may think. Jumping spiders make small webs high up in their enclosures. These are small, silk like retreats known as hammocks where they will sleep, rest and moult inside.
